Infrastructure Investment – Investing in our Future

West Virginia’s infrastructurereaches beyond our bridges and highways. The legislature recently addressed our obvious needs for improvement in our roads, and the people have spoken on a Constitutional Amendment for our State which allowed for the issuing of bonds which will fund our aggressive goals for improvement in this area. The legislature must responsibly ensure the best use of these funds now. In Charleston, our legislators must oversee the use of this money to the best benefit of our people.

We must also work to extend the infrastructure of the 21st century to each and every West Virginian. Our beautiful mountainous landscape presents unique challenges not faced by many other states, but we must stop citing it as an excuse for our people lacking the same opportunity of the rest of the nation. High-Speed internet connectivity was widely released in the 1990’s, yet our Mountain State has historically lagged behind the rest of the nation in its availability. To extend the opportunities afforded by the largest library in human history – the internet – we must no longer be content with many of our people lagging two decades behind the rest of the nation. I will work to secure federal funding for these efforts where available, and allocate state dollars to this cause as well. This investment will pay unimaginable dividends now and into the future by preparing us for 21st century industry and unleashing the imagination of current and future generations in an ever-more interconnected world.
